A charming French landscape by the much admired contemporary British artist, Susan Ryder (b.1944).
Ryder trained at the prestigious Byam Shaw School of Art under the guidance of Bernard Dunstan (1920 - 2017), who introduced her to the work of the post impressionist, Édouard Vuillard (1868 - 1940). Both Dunstan and Vuillard have since served as continual and significant sources of inspirarion for Ryder, influencing her style with their warm, soft hues, loose brushwork and ability to capture the atmosphere of a place, whether it be a sunlit field or an intimate interior.
‘Strawberry Farm, near Bergerac’ was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition of 1988.
